Lewiston Lower Yard

Lewiston once had three yards, the MEC Lewiston Upper yard near the main station on the north side of Main Street, the MEC Lewiston Lower yard running between Lincoln and Canal Streets, and the Grand Trunk Lewiston yard, which ran between oxford Street and the river from Cedar Street up to Main Street.

The Lewiston Lower yard ran between the mills in a brick and mortar canyon that may have included a delivery track that went under some of the buildings to get to others. Here the MEC served the Bates Mill (makers of bedspreads and other bed linens) and several shoe mills.

I have been taking some pictures down here and getting GPS coordinates for a possible future train simulation of the area as it would have been in the 1970's.
